Meet Crystal
Dr. Crystal Morton is a Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Urban Teacher Education at Indiana University Indianapolis School of Education.  She is Past-President of the Benjamin Banneker Association and serves on the techpoint Youth board. In 2013, Dr. Morton founded the Girls STEM Institute (GSI), a nationally recognized program designed to provide holistic learning opportunities for scholars ages 7-18 who are underrepresented in STEM fields, with a particular focus on Black girls. GSI empowers scholars to embrace their brilliance through STEM and use their STEM knowledge as a tool for personal and social change. Under Dr. Morton’s leadership, GSI has served thousands of scholars across multiple states through Saturday workshops, summer intensives, and community outreach events.
