Girls Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Institute (GSI)
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in Girls STEM Institute. Please fill out the application below so we can find out a little bit about you.
GSI provides young ladies of color ages 9-18 an opportunity to develop an understanding of mathematics and other STEM concepts in a meaningful and culturally grounded context. The goal of GSI is not only to strengthen young ladies’ skills and knowledge but also explicitly address how STEM is relevant to them while reinforcing the importance of higher level mathematics to their future education. The program aims to help young ladies develop more positive perceptions of mathematics and increase the flow of underrepresented groups to upper-level mathematics courses and STEM-related degrees and careers. Throughout the summer program, participants will engage in mathematics and science explorations, mathematics literacy instruction, a community service project, IUPUI school visits, and entrepreneurship development (provided by Always Making Progress). The camp takes place at IUPUI’s School of Education located at 902 West New York Street from June 10th – July 2nd. WE HAVE REACHED CAPACITY FOR OUR SUMMER 2019 PROGRAM.
